Community Sport & Recreation Awards 2024

We are so proud that WCNA's Women's Health Netball Festival held in May 2023 has been recognised and rewarded nationally by winning the Resilience in Adversity Award at the Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

The over-arching purpose of the Festival was to raise awareness of female health issues and encourage women and girls to:

  • to check themselves regularly, so that they know their normal.
  • trust their instincts and have the confidence to seek medical advice  as soon as possible if something is different, so if it is serious, it can be caught early on.

The best and most impactful clubs, people and projects from across community sport and recreation were celebrated on 8 March 2024 as the winners of the Alliance's 2024 Community Sport and Recreation Awards were crowned at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

Nearly 200 guests from across the nations sport and recreation sector came together to witness eight very special organisations and individuals take home the trophies. These were presented by Alliance President HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and a special guest on International Women's Day, HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 GLASGOW 2026: The World’s Best Are Heading to The Hydro! 🏐✨
The countdown is officially ON! The stage is set at the iconic OVO Hydro for what promises to be the most explosive Netball competition in Commonwealth Games history. From July 25th to August 2nd, 2026, twelve of the world’s elite nations will go head-to-head in a nine-day sprint for the gold.

Here’s why the "Glasgow Roar" is about to be louder than ever:

🔥 The Heavyweights: World #1 Australia and historic rivals England are locked in for a Pool A blockbuster, while Pool B features a mouth-watering clash between New Zealand and the "Sunshine Girls" of Jamaica.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Home Advantage: The Scottish Thistles kick things off in the opening match against the Silver Ferns. Expect an electric atmosphere that only a Glasgow crowd can provide!
🌍 Global Talent: With emerging powerhouses like Tonga making their historic debut and the speed of Uganda and South Africa in the mix, every second of the 15-minute quarters will be pure adrenaline.

This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a celebration of the speed, precision, and world-class athleticism that makes our game the heart of the Games. No matter which flag you’re waving, the level of competition is going to be second to none.

ARE YOU READY TO WITNESS HISTORY? 🏆

Given authority, where ( POOL A/B) would you have placed your country and why?
